Tiafoe Second-to-Last Player Confirmed for Team World at Laver Cup 2025
From September 19 to 21, San Francisco will host the eighth edition of the Laver Cup. While Team World claimed victory in 2022 and 2023, Team Europe reclaimed the title last year.
In California, the team now led by André Agassi will aim to regain their dominance. Several players had already been confirmed to represent Team World: Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Tommy Paul, and João Fonseca. A fifth and second-to-last player was confirmed for the team this Tuesday—Frances Tiafoe.
The current world No. 14 will take part in his sixth Laver Cup, joining a roster with a strong American presence this year: "There’s no competition quite like the Laver Cup.
I love playing for Team World and teaming up with guys who are usually my rivals. We’ve built something special, and I can’t wait to bring that energy to San Francisco.
Playing at home in the U.S. means a lot, and I’ll do everything I can to lead us to victory," said Tiafoe, who has previously competed in the 2017, 2018, 2022, 2023, and 2024 editions of the Laver Cup.
With this latest addition, Team World has just one spot left to complete their six-player squad, which will face Team Europe next month.
As for Team Europe, four players have been confirmed so far: Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, and Casper Ruud.
Two final participants will be announced in the coming weeks for Team Europe, completing the full rosters for both teams ahead of the 2025 Laver Cup.
