Video - Nadal Confused by Tsitsipas: "Your Signals, I Don't Understand Anything!"
Nadal and Tsitsipas gave the audience a memorable moment: complete misunderstanding of doubles signals, guaranteed laughter on the 2019 Laver Cup court.
Doubles is not as simple an exercise as it seems. During the third edition of the Laver Cup in Geneva, Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas teamed up in doubles against Nick Kyrgios and Jack Sock.
Troubled in the first set lost 6-4 but with a comfortable lead in the second (4-1 in their favor), the Spaniard and the Greek had a brief amusing exchange during the side change, with Nadal explaining that he didn’t understand his partner’s signals:
“We need to be a bit clearer with our fingers (laughs). They’re watching us. I don’t understand your signals, what you’re announcing. […] Closed fist, you stay. Any finger, you cross.”
Remarks that caused Roger Federer to burst into laughter just behind the bench.
