The year 2025 had its share of surprises and dramatic matches. Between the joys of some and the sorrows of others, with players retiring or suffering serious injuries, the ATP tour witnessed numerous significant events from January to November. Tennis TV compiled the emotionally charged moments throughout the season (see video below).

The Tears of Vacherot, Rune, and Schwartzman Featured

Former top 10 player Diego Schwartzman retired in February during the Buenos Aires tournament, as did Vasek Pospisil, who played his last match at the Toronto Masters 1000.

One of the beautiful stories of the season remains the final between cousins Valentin Vacherot and Arthur Rinderknech at the Shanghai Masters 1000, with the indescribable joy of the Monegasque after match point, but also the emotional speeches from both players after the match.

On the downside, Holger Rune suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury during his semifinal against Ugo Humbert in Stockholm. The Dane will miss most of the 2026 season.

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.
