WTA 125 in Quito: Jeanjean, Qualified for the Semifinals, One Win Away from the Top 100
Léolia Jeanjean hoped to reach the semifinals of the WTA 125 tournament in Quito in recent hours. The Frenchwoman, already a finalist in Colina, Chile in recent weeks, hopes to continue her good form on this end-of-season South American tour.
Ranked 102nd in the WTA, she needs to win a few more matches to secure a return to the top 100 and thus be well positioned in the race for direct qualification to the main draw of the Australian Open.
In Form in Ecuador, Jeanjean Nears Her Goal
In the Ecuadorian capital, Léolia Jeanjean won a third consecutive match without dropping a set. After her victories over Eva Vedder (6-1, 6-2) and Sada Nahimana (6-3, 6-3), the 30-year-old player eliminated Veronika Erjavec (6-3, 6-0) in the quarterfinals. To return to the top 100, she will need to win her match scheduled for this Saturday in the semifinals against Polona Hercog.
