Zverev on the Davis Cup: "I think we have a great chance"
Speaking at a press conference before facing Argentina in the Davis Cup Final 8, Alexander Zverev discussed his team's chances in the competition.
The German is the only Top 10 player present this week in Bologna. He stated: "Of course, we hope to follow in the footsteps of Jannik (Sinner) and the others; what they have achieved over the last two years is incredible.
I think the season has been long for everyone, but I am thrilled to be with my teammates. We have a great team and we are all looking forward to playing this week. Honestly, I think we have a great chance in the upcoming matches and I hope we can prove it.
I am delighted to be part of the team, I've said it before. If I am here, it is solely for the team. I have repeatedly stated that I preferred the old Davis Cup format, and I stand by that.
It was a historic moment; it was fantastic to be part of those home-and-away matches. I love this team. I know we all want to succeed together, and we have a few years left to try and win the title with this squad.
That's why I am here: I sincerely believe we have an excellent team capable of winning, and I look forward to playing alongside them."
