The US Open (August 24–September 7) revealed its wild cards for the 2025 edition on Wednesday.

Among the surprises, Venus Williams, 45, received an invitation for the main draw. The seven-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1 made her competitive return in Washington, advancing past the first round before receiving another wild card in Cincinnati.

A decision that has split fans and observers, including journalist Benoît Maylin on X (formerly Twitter):

"And who gets invited for mixed doubles and singles at the US Open? Venus Williams. 45 years old. Ranked 577th. 2 matches in 2025. 2 in 2024. 0 wins in New York since 2019… I know, she’s a legend, but someone has to say stop. It’s getting ridiculous.

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.
