For his sportsmanship, leadership and character on and off the court, Milpitas teenager Andrew Ton is among the newest members of the second annual United States Tennis Association Junior Leadership Team. A senior at Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, Ton (pronounced “tawn”) joins the group of 32 players nationwide nominated by his or her U.S.T.A. Section for their excellence in tennis and in the community. “These players truly are role models who exhibit character well beyond their years, both on the tennis court and in the community,” said Bill Mountford, the U.S.T.A.’s director of junior tournaments, in a May 3 announcement. A lifelong Milpitas resident who has attended private schools since preschool, Ton, 17, has been nationally ranked among the U.S.T.A.’s top 150 18-and-under players.
