According to Bartoli, Djokovic has a real chance of playing at Wimbledon: "We have to stop thinking he won't play"

For most experts, it seems pretty obvious that Novak Djokovic won't be taking part in Wimbledon. After missing his quarter-final match at Roland Garros (against Ruud), the Serb quickly underwent surgery to limit his period of unavailability.

Although 'Nole' has already resumed physical activity, the timeframe is very short and, as his surgeon confided, it seems unlikely that he will be 100% fit by July 1. The Wimbledon tournament is due to start in 13 days' time.

Even so, there are rumblings that Djokovic's objective may not simply be to return for the Olympic Games.

At least, that's what Marion Bartoli seems to think. The former professional player turned consultant explains that we shouldn't bury the 'Djoker' too soon: "You know, I know the physio who's looking after Novak's rehabilitation. He worked at Olympique de Marseille.

And what I can tell you is that, internally, what people are saying is that there's more chance of Djokovic playing Wimbledon than the other way round.

So we have to stop thinking that he won't play at Wimbledon. And if he does play, of course he'll be one of the two favourites (along with defending champion Carlos Alcaraz)."
