After losing to Nadal, De Minaur praises the Spaniard: "Today I saw him close to his former level"
Alex De Minaur, ranked 11th in the world and author of a high-flying season (23 wins, 8 losses, 1 title), showed his class in a press conference.
Dominated by Rafael Nadal on Saturday after an electric match in which the Madrid crowd played its part, the Australian paid tribute to his tormentor: "These are exactly the things we expected. In Barcelona, he wasn't ready to play and it showed on the pitch. Today (Saturday) I saw him close to his former level. [...] He was at a very high level, at a very high intensity, from the first point until the end."
