Before facing Murray, Wawrinka regains his desire:

Before facing Murray, Wawrinka regains his desire: "My level of play can be very good"

At the age of 39, Stan Wawrinka is set to challenge Andy Murray in the first round of the French Open. In a match that will delight even the most melancholy of fans, Wawrinka explains that he's back in the mood. Interviewed in the press conference, the Swiss confessed to having been hit hard by his succession of defeats (3 wins, 9 losses in 2024), going so far as to question his future.

Quite frankly, the former world number 3 even admitted to having withdrawn from Rome, not because of a physical problem (a right wrist injury, according to the ATP), but because of a lack of desire. On this subject, he explained, "After two days, I went home because I didn't really feel like being on the court."

However, with a renewed sense of motivation, 'Stan the man' made his way to the Bordeaux Challenger, where he finally won a match (7-5, 6-3 against Zapata Miralles). Arriving in Paris with his motivation reinvigorated, the former winner of the event insists he still has what it takes to achieve great things: "Mentally, physically, tennis-wise, I feel very good. I've got the desire, but obviously I'm going to have to start winning matches. If the results don't go my way, I'll have to ask myself a few questions, but I'm really positive because my level of play can be very good. It's up to me to find the solutions.

"Warns competition"? Lmao. Please tell me you're trolling with this headline. It remains painfully obvious that De Minaur simply isn't a Slam contender. Hell, Alex would need a plethora of injury luck
