Halys, the unexpected French qualifier:

Halys, the unexpected French qualifier: "It feels good".

Quentin Halys is finally reassured. Plunged into a series of disappointing results, the 27-year-old had been tumbling down the rankings, even finding himself 223rd this week.

However, far from giving up, he arrived at Wimbledon with the knife between his teeth to play in the qualifying rounds. The gamble paid off, as he qualified for the final draw, conceding just one set along the way.

In a statement relayed by L'Équipe, Halys made no secret of his delight at qualifying: "It's never insignificant to win three matches in a row. It feels great. Beyond Wim, for the season ahead. To prove to myself that what I do in training also works in matches.

I'm playing well and feeling good. I have a very positive attitude. It reinforces my idea that if I stay good at what I'm doing, if I keep this thread going, I can get back to a good ranking quickly."
