Paolini safely through to the second round

Jasmine Paolini is having a much better grass-court season than expected. After a fine semi-final performance at Eastbourne last week, the Italian managed her Wimbledon debut to perfection.

Opposed to Sara Sorribes Tormo, the current world no. 7 played some quality tennis, with plenty of variation and aggression (36 winners). Breaking 6 times, she logically qualified for the rest of the tournament after just over 1 h 30 of play (7-5, 6-3).

In the next round, the last French Open finalist will face Minnen (80th).
