Murray withdraws from Wimbledon singles!

Murray withdraws from Wimbledon singles!

The suspense lasted until the very last moment. Andy Murray has withdrawn from the 2024 Wimbledon singles tournament. He will, however, play doubles alongside his brother Jamie Murray.

The two-time winner of the event (2013, 2016) was due to face Tomas Machac this Tuesday on Centre Court. He has been replaced by David Goffin, who inherits the status of Lucky Loser after losing in the final round of qualifying.

Official press release: "Unfortunately, despite the incredible efforts he has made to recover since his operation just over a week ago, Andy has made the very difficult decision not to play singles this year.

As you can imagine, he is extremely disappointed, but has confirmed that he will play doubles with Jamie and is looking forward to competing at Wimbledon for the last time."

Note that Machac-Goffin has been moved to Court 17 and replaced by the match between Jack Draper and Elias Ymer on Centre Court.

Well at the handshake, finally got a good read on Sinners height. He is about the same at Berrettini at 6'5", rather than the 6'2" on TT that was noted while he was still growing.
