Supported by an entire nation, Gasquet topples Coric at Roland-Garros!

Supported by an entire nation, Gasquet topples Coric at Roland-Garros!

Richard Gasquet is inexhaustible. The 124th-ranked player in the world played an immense match, perfectly honoring his invitation to take down Borna Coric after more than 3 hours of combat (7-6, 7-6, 6-4). At almost 38 years of age, the Biterrois' performance is quite exceptional.

Galvanized by a wildly enthusiastic Parisian crowd, 'Richie' produced one of his best matches of the season. Mentally solid, effective on the important points and, above all, ultra-punctual on the backhand (47 winners, 28 unforced errors), it was only logical that he should reach the second round.

The story is already a superb one for the man who was playing in his 21st career Roland Garros. He'll be looking to extend the adventure a little further this Wednesday in the second round. The only fly in the ointment is that he will probably be up against world No. 2 Jannik Sinner.

"Warns competition"? Lmao. Please tell me you're trolling with this headline. It remains painfully obvious that De Minaur simply isn't a Slam contender. Hell, Alex would need a plethora of injury luck

Superb result and a seeding at Wimbledon. Imagine a 1st round draw against Murray. That'd be a match with one generation passing onto the next....as long as Murray gets a wild card of course for the m
