Sinner concedes a set but qualifies
At Wimbledon, the big favorites come through, but don't shine. After Carlos Alcaraz's relatively sluggish qualification earlier in the day, it was Jannik Sinner who made life difficult for himself.
Against Yannick Hanfmann (110th), he didn't always shine, even conceding his first set on three occasions. Despite this, he was able to do what was necessary to qualify after almost 3 hours of play (6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3).
Although less convincing than in Halle, the Italian held his ground and, as the world's No.1 player, remains a favorite to win this year's title.
In the next round, he faces a tough opponent in Matteo Berrettini. A promising match!
