Wawrinka reassures himself against Murray as he bids farewell to the French Open
Stan Wawrinka has just qualified for the 2nd round of the 2024 French Open by defeating Andy Murray on the Court Philippe Chatrier. The 37-year-old was playing in his 12th and last French Open. The Swiss came through with ease (6-4, 6-4, 6-2 in 2 hours and 18 minutes) against the Briton, who was physically unprepared. After severely twisting his ankle in Miami at the end of March, he only returned to competition 10 days ago. Insufficient to really compete today.
As for Wawrinka, he's taking a breath of fresh air after a complicated start to the clay-court season (3 wins in 10 matches). In the 2nd round, he will face the winner of the match between Cameron Norrie and Pavel Kotov.
