Swiatek continues to crush everything in her path!

Swiatek continues to crush everything in her path!

Having qualified for the semi-finals, Iga Swiatek has recovered perfectly from the big scare she had against Naomi Osaka in the 2nd round of the French Open (victory in 3 hours after saving a match point). Since then, the world number 1 has spent as much time on court (3 hours and 15 minutes) to get through the next three rounds as she did to defeat the Japanese.

Her latest helpless victim is Marketa Vondrousova, a finalist on the Paris clay in 2019. The Polish player made short work of the Czech in the quarter-finals on Tuesday. Without forcing it, she won in an hour and two sets (6-0, 6-2), taking the first 7 games of the match and inflicting her third 6-0 of the tournament (she had outclassed Anastasia Potapova 6-0, 6-0 in just 40 minutes in the Round of 16).

In the semi-finals, Swiatek is likely to encounter more resistance, as Coco Gauff, world number 3 and a finalist at the 2022 tournament, will stand in her way. But is there only one player capable of stopping the Pole in Paris this year? Perhaps it was Osaka.
