"The Nordic Batlle", the staging of an unusual rivalry
Northern Europe is not the most famous part of the world for its tennis. Yet it has managed to produce two excellent players, namely Casper Ruud and Holger Rune. At just 25 and 21, both are already the best tennis players in the history of their respective nations (Norway and Denmark).
So, for some time now, this Nordic rivalry has been catching the eye of spectators. Not only because of the purely geographical nature of the rivalry, but also because of their style of play and behavior on the court. While Rune is known for his colorful tennis and flamboyant character, sometimes bordering on the disrespectful, Ruud is the exact opposite. Offering a more structured, classic style of tennis, he is less of a crowd pleaser, but has a much calmer, fairer attitude on court.
But this budding rivalry is about to get a new boost in a few months' time. In fact, the two men will meet again in an exhibition organized in Norway and Denmark, "The Nordic Battle".
The 21-year-old made the announcement on his social networks: "Incredible that you took up the challenge Casper, and really fantastic that the event was made possible. I can't wait to come to Oslo on November 30, then continue the battle in Copenhagen on December 3. Let's have a great Nordic battle."
With the aim of promoting tennis in the Nordic countries, the two great representatives of tennis in this part of the world have decided to face each other in a two-legged match, playing at home and then away each on their return. The first clash will take place on November 30 in Oslo, followed by the second in Copenhagen on December 3.
The event, organized on the initiative of the lower-ranked of the two, is sure to attract a large number of spectators.
It's worth noting that, to date, this duality has been largely to the advantage of Casper Ruud, who has won 6 times in 7 encounters.
