Gasquet after his win over Mannarino: "Give it my all to have fun".

Gasquet after his win over Mannarino: Give it my all to have fun.

Richard Gasquet prolongs the pleasure. In his last appearance at the Montpellier tournament before retiring, the 38-year-old Frenchman showed no fear in his opening match against Adrian Mannarino.

Gasquet spoke to the press about the rest of the tournament.

"I felt in good shape, but not extraordinary either. I wasn't sure about my level of play. But I know the venue and I'm experienced, even if I know it can get complicated very quickly.

But I got off to a good start, which was important. It's not the last time I'll be doing the Béziers-Montpellier trip by car, and that makes me happy.

Adrian didn't have his best game, but I knew I had to get off to a good start for things to go well. I typed well and served well.

It was a solid match and it's great to be able to play on this center court once again. In tennis, anything's possible, but I still doubt I'll make a final here again.

I've played in a few and I'm happy about that. But it will be difficult to make the final. Against Tallon Griekspoor, I've got nothing to lose.

I'm going to give it my all to win and enjoy myself. That's why I'm still here at this age," he assures L'Équipe.
