Safina praises Sinner: "It's very interesting to watch him play".
Dinara Safina joins the long list of tennis personalities who admire Jannik Sinner.
The Italian, world number 1, was the ATP Tour's boss in 2024 and proved it back in January by winning the Australian Open.
Despite being down two sets to none, Sinner found the resources to upset Daniil Medvedev (3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3) and win his first Grand Slam title.
Speaking to Russian media outlet Championat, the former world number 1 spoke highly of the San Candido native.
She believes that his title in Melbourne has helped him enormously for the rest of the year: "The most important factor is that he started the season with a win in Australia.
If he hadn't won that final, he wouldn't have had such a confidence boost, because Daniil was so close to winning.
Now, Jannik is the leader in the standings, playing incredibly well. It's very interesting to watch him play," she assures us.
