Moutet beats Popyrin to qualify for the second round of the Australian Open

Corentin Moutet didn't have an easy draw, facing Alexei Popyrin. Undaunted by the hostile crowd, the Frenchman won 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.

Popyrin was physically diminished, but didn't want to give up.

He was expected to play the first Grand Slam of the year, in his home country, with a new status: that of top seed.

In the second round, Moutet will face Mitchell Krueger, who won earlier in the day against Rinky Hijikata.
