Nadal to play Davis Cup singles against the Netherlands!
The long-awaited verdict came down this Tuesday lunchtime. Rafael Nadal, who is playing in the last tournament of his illustrious career at the Davis Cup finals, will indeed be playing singles, according to Marca.
His captain David Ferrer has decided to start him in the first match against the Netherlands. The former world number 1 will face Botic van de Zandschulp in Malaga at 5pm.
Having written off the Laver Cup in Berlin, Nadal has redoubled his efforts in training to give himself a chance of playing in the Davis Cup.
The intensity he has put in over the last few days to get himself physically ready has prompted Ferrer to give him a chance in singles.
In what promises to be a fiery atmosphere, Nadal will attempt to score the first point for his country. Against a player he has always beaten in two meetings during the 2022 season (at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, each time without dropping a set).
What are their rankings now?
