The Toronto Masters 1000 and Montreal WTA 1000 unveil their provisional schedules, with the final on Thursday

It's news that won't please the majority of tennis fans. The two major Canadian tournaments in August, Toronto and Montreal, have announced their provisional schedules.

Qualifying will start on Saturday 26th, and the first round of the final draw on Sunday 27th.

It should be noted that the first round only concerns non-seeded players, so 32 players are exempt from the first round.

The main thing to note is that the finals will be played on Thursday August 7, whereas finals are usually played on Sundays.

The extension of these tournaments, coupled with that of Cincinnati, completely overturns the ATP and WTA calendar.
