Roddick worried about Swiatek after doping affair: She's sensitive, much more emotional than Sinner

Iga Swiatek will be playing in the United Cup in the coming hours.

The Pole will be representing her country in this team competition. This will serve as preparation for the Australian Open for the world number 2.

This will be her first Grand Slam appearance following the announcement of her positive test for trimetazidine.

In his podcast, Andy Roddick, also a former world number 1, gave his opinion on the pressure Swiatek will have to deal with at press conferences.

Journalists are expected to ask him about this case, which has caused a stir in the tennis world.

"Swiatek is number 2 in the world and has won 61 matches this year, losing just nine. That's the best winning percentage this season, and we're still talking about what she can improve in many aspects.

It's good to be in this position. Recently, she tested positive. I don't think that makes you a bad person.

My only concern for Iga Swiatek is how she'll deal with questions about it once she's in Australia," says Roddick.

"What will happen is that she'll give the same answer to the same question over the next few months.

She's sensitive, we can see her much more emotional than Jannik Sinner can be, who is always calm.

I'm worried about that. With the information that's been made public, it'll be interesting to see how she reacts in Australia.

She needs to perform better in the Grand Slams outside Roland Garros, which is a tournament that belongs to her at this stage (Swiatek has won four of the last five Porte d'Auteuil editions in 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024)."
