Berrettini after Italy's second consecutive Davis Cup: "We always put our heart on the court".
Italy are once again on top of the world. Filippo Volandri's team overcame the Netherlands in the Davis Cup final.
Matteo Berrettini beat Botic van de Zandschulp and Jannik Sinner beat Tallon Griekspoor.
The former did the hard work to set his team on the road to success.
Absent from the team that won this same competition last year, Berrettini got his revenge.
Solid against both Kokkinakis in the semi-finals and van de Zandschulp in the final, he was also paired with Sinner in the decisive doubles match against Argentina in the quarters.
After the final, the main man gave his first impression: "I'm just really happy. Last year, I was there to support the team.
This year, I contributed a few points. No matter who's playing, Jannik (Sinner), Lorenzo (Musetti) or anyone else, we always put our hearts on the court.
That's the secret of our team. The guys at home, Flavio (Cobolli) and Matteo (Arnaldi), they also won matches in this tournament. They were important.
They're a big team and we're delighted to have won the trophy," he explained.
