Wilander on Nadal: "Making Federer look so lost
In 5 days' time, the Davis Cup finals will officially get underway. This year, the tennis world cup will have a very special flavour, as it will be the scene of Rafael Nadal's farewell match, in front of his home crowd no less.
When asked about this moment in history, Eurosport consultant Mats Wilander evoked his first outstanding memory of the Spaniard. He mentioned one match in particular: the 2005 Miami final between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
Recalling being bluffed by the Spaniard, he declared: "The first time I really saw Rafa play a big match was in the final in Miami in 2005. He lost to Federer after winning the first two sets.
But, I had watched that duel from the stands and couldn't believe there was a player capable of making Roger Federer look so lost on the court."
