Alcaraz beats Shevchenko to reach the second round of the Australian Open

Carlos Alcaraz qualified with ease, beating Alexander Shevchenko 6-1, 7-5, 6-1.

However, he had a scare in the second set, losing his serve twice and trailing 5-3.

The Spaniard quickly corrected the situation, however, and went on to win eleven of the last twelve games. In his post-match interview, he was all smiles.

John Millman asked him what his secret was. Alcaraz replied: "There's no secret. It's hard work.

I try to give my best every day. Every day I get up and try to be a better person and a better player."

He will face Yoshihito Nishioka in the next round.
