Alcaraz won't miss his Beijing debut

Alcaraz won't miss his Beijing debut

Carlos Alcaraz didn't shy away from his debut.

Highly committed, he played at a high level and seemed to confirm that the US Open and its disillusionment are far behind him.

Up against the promising Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, Alcaraz bided his time, breaking once in each set (6-4, 6-4).

Without overplaying, he simply showed enough intensity and presence, particularly on the return, to qualify for the rest of the tournament.

In the next round, he will meet the world number 39, Tallon Griekspoor.
