Aryna Sabalenka ended 2024 as world number one.

Not illogically, given the shape of the season, the Belarusian won two Grand Slam titles, at the Australian Open and the US Open, finishing the season unbeaten in a hard-court Major.

Forfeited at Wimbledon, Sabalenka also reached the quarter-finals at Roland Garros, where she suffered her only Grand Slam defeat in 2024 against Mirra Andreeva.

In all, she has won 18 out of 19 matches in this category of tournaments since January, for a winning percentage of 94.7%.

This is the highest Grand Slam score over a calendar year since Serena Williams in 2015 among players who have played at least 10 matches.

Nine years ago, the American had a 96.2% winning percentage, coming very close to achieving the calendar Grand Slam.

After winning the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon, she failed to reach the semi-finals at the US Open against Roberta Vinci.
