ATP Director Gaudenzi announces solutions to the ball problem
Balls are a regular topic of discussion among players, and many complain about them. The problem is the quality of the balls and the fact that they are changed at almost every tournament.
ATP Director Andrea Gaudenzi reacted to this controversy in an interview with L'Équipe, announcing some solutions: "We have centralized ball selection.
It takes a little time, because tournaments have contracts with ball manufacturers.
We have to wait for them to expire. But we've listened to the players and we want to make sure there's uniformity of balls on the circuit again.
For example, the same balls will be used from Monte Carlo to Rome.
We can't influence the choice of balls used at Grand Slam tournaments. We made this decision last season and it will be gradually implemented in 2025."
