Becker reflects on Djokovic's failure at the 2016 Olympics: "He was heartbroken"

Djokovic's former coach Boris Becker opened up about his impressions of the Serb's current form.

He explained 'Nole's' immense motivation by one event in particular: the 2016 Olympic Games.

Back then, Novak Djokovic only wanted one thing: to win gold. However, he inherited Juan Martin Del Potro in the first round and eventually lost (7-6, 7-6).

Present in his team at the time, Becker declared: "You can't imagine the expectation and power he has when he plays for Serbia. The 2016 event helped me understand that.

He lost to Del Potro in the first round and it was impossible to talk to him for the first two days, because he was heartbroken. It was one of the biggest disappointments of his career.

He's had so many great victories in his career, but you could see the disappointment. He showed how proud he was to be Serbian.

He loves his country more than anything else in the world. That's why these Olympics will be so important for him."
