After a thrilling first set, Francisco Cerundolo beat Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 6-1 to give Argentina the first point of their quarter-final against Italy.
The first set between the two players, 54 minutes long, was a hard-fought affair. Cerundolo won it after three consecutive breaks (from 3-3 to 5-4).
After that, Musetti took a beating and lost the thread of his tennis. He conceded his serve three times in the second set, including a shutout on the last serve of the match.
Argentina now lead 1-0 and will send Sebastian Baez to the Málaga court to try and secure his ticket to the semi-finals.
The Argentine No.1 will face Jannik Sinner, who won the Masters last week without dropping a set.
