Federer: He can do what he wants.

Where does Rafael Nadal stand? What's next for Rafael Nadal?

While most experts are wondering about the possible retirement of the Spanish champion, his historic rival and great friend Roger Federer has spoken out on the subject.

He explained how sorry he felt for 'Rafa', while reminding us that the latter had earned the right to finish as he wished: "I spoke to him last week.

He wanted to ask me something, we talked and I felt a bit sorry for him that his summer didn't go as well as planned because he had a difficult draw at Roland-Garros.

At the Olympics, he also had a difficult draw. I think he was hoping for a medal.

But you know, on the whole, he can do what he wants. He was one of the most iconic tennis players in our sport, and that's what I told him.

I just hope he can leave as he wishes, but he's a great man, with a great career."
