At 41, Verdasco will play an ITF tournament in Doha

Fernando Verdasco, although absent from the professional circuit since September 2023, has not yet officially called time on his career.

The former world no. 7 will be present next week at an ITF tournament in Doha, where he will be lining up in doubles alongside Turkey's Cem Ilkel, ranked 746th in the world.

An unexpected presence for the Madrid-born player, who seemed to have put an end to his career by becoming a coach.

Verdasco had been seen on the courts last year as Alejandro Davidovich Fokina's coach, before their collaboration came to an end a few weeks ago.

@Belinda S yeah and...? Do you not work or something or you don't need to earn a living? Lucky you if you don't. The rest of the human race sadly do need to work because we need money to survive. What's funny about that!?
