David Ferrer is one of Rafael Nadal's closest friends.
Currently captain of the Davis Cup, which will be played after the Masters, the Spanish player spoke to "Marca" about his friend's retirement:
"I didn't cry when I retired from tennis, but maybe for Rafa, I won't be able to hold back.
Let's see, I'm very excited that things are going well for Rafa, as a friend.
I'd be very excited if he ended up happy.
What does it mean to win?
Well yes, it's a victory, but not for me but for everything he deserves for everything he's achieved.
The problem is, it's something you can't control.
What happens in Malaga won't change his life or his career.
But on a personal level, I'd like him to leave tennis with a good taste in his mouth."
