Garcia's New Year's message: "Things don't always go as planned, but life remains a beautiful gift".
Caroline Garcia's 2024 on the court was not her most successful year.
The Frenchwoman, marked by certain hate messages on social networks directed at her and her family, decided to put an end to her season in September.
Before returning to the Australian Open in a few days' time, the 48th player in the world published a long message on her Instagram account.
"As the year draws to a close, I can't help but reflect on how far we've come. It's been a year of immense change and growth.
It has brought me some of the most beautiful and unexpected moments of my life, but also some profound disappointments.
I experienced a difficult defeat at Roland Garros and got engaged a week later. I've battled anxiety attacks on the court and celebrated my happiest moments off it.
I ended my season unsure of my future in tennis, and started the pre-season cheerful and full of hope," Garcia begins.
"This year has reminded me that life is never black and white. Growth is not linear. It requires effort, resilience and sometimes suffering.
Yes, some people may disappoint and hurt you, but others will come into your life to bring you love and light.
Things don't always go as planned, but life remains a beautiful gift.
If you strive to be kind, do good and stay true to yourself, chances are you'll find the right path.
Happy New Year to you! Dream big, work hard, be kind and, above all, don't forget to cherish the present and spend time with the people who mean the most to you," concluded the former WTA number 4.
