Gasquet wants to honour his wild-card status: "I want to play and win this match".
Richard Gasquet is already at Roland-Garros. He has been here for several days preparing for the tournament, and has already met the press. Invited by the organizers, he will be playing in his 21st main draw in Paris: a figure which is enough to testify to the longevity of the French champion. Still a long way from his best, 'Richie' is hoping to thrill the Parisian public.
Facing Borna Coric in the first round, the task will be arduous, but not impossible. The Croatian is not renowned for his ease on clay, and has never reached the second week at Porte d'Auteuil. Although he will probably play on Sunday, Gasquet is confident of his chances: "Physically, I'm fine. I'm not in pain, but this is the most physical tournament. I want to play and win this match, even if he's the favorite (Coric)."
