Humbert after his defeat in the final: "I played all week with anti-inflammatories".
Beaten by Alexander Zverev in two sets and never able to find the breakthrough, Ugo Humbert accumulated physical and mental fatigue after his epic week.
The Frenchman confided that he hadn't had any positive signs before starting the final: "This morning, when I woke up, the warm-up was complicated. I was tired. Mentally, I also felt that I wasn't really up to it.
I tried to talk to myself, to motivate myself. But my body didn't want to react, didn't want to do anything. That's how I felt."
Physically diminished, Humbert also admitted to having been in trouble with his back since entering the tournament: "I'm not a robot. I played all week on anti-inflammatories because my back was hurting."
And regarding the Metz tournament where he is announced, he has yet to make a decision: "I'm going to talk it over with my team now to see if I play it or withdraw."
