Lopez on Nadal: "There has never been a sportsman in Spain comparable to Rafa".

Lopez on Nadal: There has never been a sportsman in Spain comparable to Rafa.

In comments relayed by Relevo, Feliciano Lopez reflected on the immense career of his compatriot Rafael Nadal.

In his opinion, the Majorcan is, without doubt, the greatest Spanish sportsman in the history of sport: "He was number one in the world, he won Olympic medals.... There hasn't been a sportsman in Spain comparable to Rafa.

Sometimes the debate is fuelled in a journalistic way, and I understand that it's fun to wonder who's the best.

But this debate dilutes the reality a little: if we're talking about sporting achievements, honestly and without offending anyone, I don't think anyone can match him.

And then there's what transcended, what moved... He provoked emotions and feelings in so many people...

Things happened with Rafa in this country that haven't happened with any other sportsman, and that also contributes to it."
