Mouratoglou on the UTS: "It's like the old Davis Cup format, with the added bonus of a DJ".
A tournament category created to attract a younger audience, the UTS Tour is becoming increasingly successful, with events taking place all over the world.
Patrick Mouratoglou, inventor of the UTS, talks about the competition's progress.
"It always takes a little time for people to become familiar with something new, but it feels like a lot of people know about UTS now.
I can't wait to see what happens in London this year," Serena Williams' former coach began for Tennis365.
"A lot of people have already come to our events. Once they go to find out, they love it. We sell out every time, the tournaments sell out earlier and earlier.
In Nîmes, in April 2025, we sold 6,000 tickets in the first 24 hours, and things are going really fast. The atmosphere is something we've never seen on a tennis court before.
For people who love the sport, it's about being part of an experience and living it, because you can show all the emotions you want, whenever you want.
It's like the old Davis Cup format with the same atmosphere, but with the added bonus of a DJ. It's really special, without taking away from the competition between the players during the tournament," he continues.
"The aim of the UTS is to bring in new, younger tennis fans.
Of course, any tennis fan is more than welcome, and I'm not surprised that everyone who has come to enjoy the experience has loved it.
In fact, the players keep coming back, and they really appreciate it. They love the music, the atmosphere. What the athletes like most is to feel the crowd with them, whether they're with them or against them," concludes Mouratoglou.
