Musetti reborn: "I've kept a positive frame of mind".
Since the French Open, Lorenzo Musetti has been back in the spotlight. Plunged into a spiral of negative results, the Italian is now putting in a string of convincing performances.
A semi-finalist in Stuttgart and then a finalist at Queen's, the man who will return to the world's top 20 after Wimbledon took full advantage of a favorable draw to reach the quarter-finals in London.
Asked about his current state of form, the 22-year-old reflected on the hard-working mentality that has enabled him to string together such fine performances: "My return to the highest level doesn't just come from this week. It comes from the fact that I kept a positive frame of mind when I was going through a negative period in terms of results and performances.
By playing in minor events, I managed to regain a good feeling on the court. I didn't expect to make the transition from clay to grass so smoothly.
The Queen's final was unexpected, but I think I deserved it. I played four very close matches there where I had to bring out something that hadn't come out for a long time, which pushed me to reach the quarter-finals here."
