Paolini: "I had to try and find some energy after losing to Swiatek".
Initially losing to Iga Swiatek, Jasmine Paolini went on to win the doubles with Sara Errani against Kawa/Swiatek and qualify with Italy for the final of the Billie Jean King Cup.
She explains that after her singles match against Swiatek, it was time to get back into the swing of things: "I tried to tell myself that I had to play and try to win, and I repeated that to myself.
I was in the dressing room with my physio, trying to recover as much as possible. I had to try and find some energy after losing to Swiatek.
My match against her was different from Roland-Garros, of course because of the surface. I was close to winning, but she played incredibly well.
Especially in the third set, when she raised her game. Her serve was getting better and better. I had opportunities in the second set, and maybe in the third too.
But I have to congratulate her, because she played very well on the important points."
