Already beaten by Alexander Zverev in his first match of the Masters (6-4, 6-4), Andrey Rublev lost again in Turin.
Up against a sick but motivated Carlos Alcaraz, the Russian gave his all, but lost in two sets (6-3, 7-6). Virtually eliminated from the race for the semi-finals, the world number 8 spoke to the press conference about Alcaraz's level of play.
According to Rublev, it was particularly high: "Of all the matches we've played against each other, this is the one where he was the strongest, even if you take our match here last year. He played at a very high level.
Even on serve. Normally, he varies a lot. This Wednesday, he served flat and managed a high percentage of first shots. He's really strong."
