Sinner reflects on his Australian Open title: "You convince yourself you can do it".

Jannik Sinner has definitely changed his status in 2024. Although the young Transalpine was already under close scrutiny, he is now enjoying a highly successful season marked by several major titles and, in particular, his first Grand Slam title, at the Australian Open in January.

Although his level of tennis is slightly down, notably due to a recalcitrant hip, Sinner remains a tough customer and a handsome world No. 1. Winner over Alex Michelsen (6-4, 7-5) on his Cincinnatti debut, the Italian confided in the press following his victory.

While he readily admits that he's going through a rather tricky period, he also explains that his coronation in Melbourne made him realize what he was really capable of: "Yes, I'm still thinking about the Olympic Games I missed out on after preparing for so long, but I have to accept it, it's part of sport.

I have to be happy with what I have, without always looking at the negative aspects. This year, I felt I was playing well, even at Roland Garros. I was hoping to build up a chance of winning a medal.

I think my season is going very well. In any case, we can continue to build on that. We all have our doubts.

Sometimes, before I won in Australia, I wondered if I was capable of winning a Grand Slam. And then you win it.

From that moment on, you convince yourself that you can do it, often, but without stopping working."
