The players nominated for the ATP Awards have been announced!
On Monday, the ATP revealed the players nominated for the ATP Awards, which recognize the season's performances in four different categories.
The first category is Comeback Player of the Year, with three players nominated by the ATP: Matteo Berrettini, Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori. All three players, former members of the Top 10, have distinguished themselves by returning to the forefront after a long absence due to injury.
Next up is the category for best progression of the year, where Jack Draper, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, Thomas Machac and Alejandro Tabilo are all nominated.
Mpetshi Perricard could be one of the favorites for this award after finishing the season in the Top 50, despite starting it ranked above 200th in the world.
The third category concerns newcomers to the circuit. Jakub Mensik, ranked 48th in the world, and Juncheng Shang, ranked 50th in the world, are the two players nominated.
Finally, as in previous years, the ATP will be awarding the Stefan Edberg prize for sportsmanship. Dominic Thiem, Carlos Alcaraz, Casper Ruud (winner in 2022) and Grigor Dimitrov are the players nominated in this category.
As for coaches, five names are in the running for the title of Coach of the Year: Xavier Malisse (Alexei Popyrin), Emmanuel Planque (Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard), Michael Russell (Taylor Fritz), Brad Stine (Tommy Paul) and James Trotman (Jack Draper).
Fans can also vote for their favorite player of the season (and their favorite doubles pair) on the ATP website. Prizes will be awarded the week of December 9.
