Dominic Thiem retired at the end of the 2024 season due to a long-standing wrist injury. Reflecting on his career, which included winning a Grand Slam title (the US Open), the Austrian recalls his best match: "I remember the semi-final of the 2019 ATP Finals against Djokovic.
I was pretty sick, which took the pressure off me and allowed me to play very freely. I've never played such spectacular tennis as I did that day, neither before nor after that match."
The Austrian had beaten the Serb 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 in the group stage. He reached the final, losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-7, 6-2, 7-6.
