United Cup: France hope for a miracle against Italy on Matchday 5

On New Year's Eve, the United Cup features two matches.

In Sydney (from 10:30 local time, 00:30 in France), France will take on Italy in the final Group D match.

Les Bleus, who were beaten by Switzerland in the decisive double (2-1) in their first match, will need to win by a score of 3-0 if they are to reach the quarter-finals.

Ugo Humbert will be the first to take to the court against Flavio Cobolli, before Jasmine Paolini takes on Chloé Paquet.

The doubles will pit Errani/Vavassori against Lechemia/Roger-Vasselin.

In Perth (from 10 a.m. local time, 3 a.m. in France), the final Group A match will pit the USA against Croatia.

Taylor Fritz will first take on Borna Coric, before Coco Gauff and Donna Vekic take to the court.

The scheduled doubles match pits Gauff/Fritz against Vekic/Dodig.

The winner of this match will play China in the quarter-finals of the competition.
