Winner of the BJK Cup, Paolini's impressive year in 2024
In 2024, Jasmine Paolini established herself as one of the best players on the WTA Tour, reaching a level of play that nobody could have seen coming at the start of the season.
The Italian started the year ranked 29th in the WTA rankings and will end it ranked 4th in the world. A leap up the rankings that was far from expected for the 28-year-old.
In the space of just a few months, she has carved out a place for herself in the history of Italian tennis, becoming the first player from her country to reach the final of two different Grand Slams and the first to win the title at Wimbledon.
She also became the third Italian player to reach the Top 5 (after Schiavone and Errani) and brought home the first Olympic gold medal in Italian tennis history in doubles with Sara Errani.
Tonight's victory in the Billie Jean King Cup was therefore a crowning achievement for Paolini, who had provided decisive points for her team (2 singles wins and 2 doubles victories) throughout the week.
And with the men's team's quarter-final tomorrow against Argentina, Italian tennis could be dreaming of an incredible double if it wins the Davis Cup.
