Alcaraz: "It's always tricky to play a left-hander (Humbert)".

Alcaraz: It's always tricky to play a left-hander (Humbert).

Facing Ugo Humbert, Carlos Alcaraz found himself up against a left-handed player for the first time at Wimbledon. This is no mean feat, especially as his first match against a left-hander on grass recently ended in defeat. He lost to Jack Draper in the 2nd round at Queen's 2 weeks ago, when he was the defending champion.

Questioned on the subject after his victory over the Frenchman, the Spaniard confirmed that it was never easy to adapt to the differences with a right-handed opponent. However, he didn't seem to make this a determining factor in the fine opposition Humbert put up against him on Centre Court on Sunday (6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5).

Carlos Alcaraz: "It's always tricky to play against a left-hander. At Queen's, I played my first match (on grass) against a left-hander (losing to Jack Draper in the 2nd round). And I suppose I learned a bit from that match. Particularly the sliced serve on the advantage side, it's difficult to reach that ball.

But I felt really good. Today, I really played at a very high level. And I tried not to think too much about the fact that I was playing against a left-hander."
