Alcaraz gives up his title in the 2nd round at Queen's, beaten by a very good Draper!

Carlos Alcaraz, defending champion and world no. 2, was beaten in the 2nd round at Queen's grass court on Thursday. He was dominated in just over an hour and a half and two sets (7-6, 6-3) by a Jack Draper in full confidence after winning the first ATP title of his career last week in Stuttgart. The Spaniard, winner of the last Wimbledon, was on a 13-match winning streak on grass.

After a hard-fought first set, Draper dominated the tie-break (7-3). In the second set, he made the break in the 6th game by going on the offensive at 30-30. A point won at the net, followed by a superb backhand winner, made the difference. He then held perfectly on his own serve and will now meet Tommy Paul in the quarter-finals.

Alcaraz will need to redouble his training efforts to fine-tune his adaptation to grass. The stakes will be immense at Wimbledon, where he will certainly not arrive with the same level of confidence as last year.
